the law of liberty

Though my homeland is elsewhere, I live now in the Land of Liberty, which was born when men bridled at their legitimate authorities, when they fought and killed to stand free of their king, and when in their war they triumphed. I live now in the Land of Liberty, which, ever since a friend of war, has conquered from one ocean to another, and which enjoys now a million times more riches than George or Caesar or Alexander ever could have dreamed.

But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

Doers took for themselves and made the States United. Doers looked at the perfect law and laughed at the powers who would have placed the most reasonable limitations on them. These men are worthy of admiration, who bound themselves willingly to a paper document and then freely violated it when it did not agree with them.

The Christian is the Loyalist, who debates with her compatriots and within herself and, predictably, decides that the best thing to do is Nothing, that honorable loyalty to the Past and to the Present are weighty enough to justify the plush recliner.

But brothers and sisters in the Lord: don’t you long to do whatever you want? Don’t you desire to write the law paper which you can rip up at will?

I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.

Doesn’t this sound appealing to you?

I hear you all the time complain about how you want things done differently. The inheritors of the American Liberation cherish the freedom to kill unborn children, which we who have knowledge obviously find intolerably repulsive. Don’t you want to end this sick sacrifice and tear down all its temples?

This great country’s leaders in their freedom ordain that the future be firesold to banks and big shareholders in order to enhance their present pleasure. Don’t you want to build up the City rather than sell it for pennies on the dollar?

The American Dreamers, crafty and happy to lie, tell Christians that if they vote for Republicans then they will get Wise Judges who will end abortion, Just Trust Me Bro. And they tell Christians that realistically, pushing the Democratic Party to the Left is the only hope, and that if we can just get some worldling socialists in power that they will Proclaim Good News to the Poor.

But brothers and sisters in the Body, it’s not happening. And you know that it’s not happening; you know that you listen and nod and vote (or just post online) as a cover for your inner despair. And your despair is needless.

Rejoice and be glad, for the grip of the American Revolutionaries and their Constitution is weaker than it ever has been. You, if you should only get up from the computer chairs and pick up your ARs and take a stroll outside together, would be able to take it for yourselves and your God easily. We’d lose a bit of Blood, but we have plenty to spare.

So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light.

Today, the United States of America celebrates its revolutionaries and their victory in battle against their God-appointed ruler. Let us look to them approvingly as an example of shrewdness in getting what they want, and let us eat and drink and watch pretty fireworks, and then tomorrow, in honor of them, let us topple everything that they have built and conquer this Nation and this continent and this planet so that the whims of Jesus might everywhere be law.

We are the Body of Jesus who is the perfect law, the law of liberty. Let us be perserverers, let us be doers, let us be conquerors. America has been greatly blessed. Now let us be blessed in our doing.
